New in January 2026
The chickenpox (varicella) vaccine is now part of the routine NHS childhood vaccination schedule, offered as a 2-dose combined MMRV jab at 12 and 18 months.
6-in-1 vaccine (1st dose)
Protects against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis), polio, Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b) and hepatitis B. Given as a single injection in the thigh.
MenB (1st dose)
Protects against meningococcal group B bacteria — the most common cause of bacterial meningitis in babies in the UK.
Rotavirus (1st dose)
Protects against rotavirus infection, a common cause of diarrhoea and vomiting in babies and young children. Given as oral drops — not an injection.
