NHS UK Vaccination Schedule

Based on the UK routine immunisation schedule. Always confirm with your GP or health visitor.

💉

New in January 2026

The chickenpox (varicella) vaccine is now part of the routine NHS childhood vaccination schedule, offered as a 2-dose combined MMRV jab at 12 and 18 months.

6-in-1 vaccine (1st dose)

Protects against diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough (pertussis), polio, Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type b) and hepatitis B. Given as a single injection in the thigh.

MenB (1st dose)

Protects against meningococcal group B bacteria — the most common cause of bacterial meningitis in babies in the UK.

Rotavirus (1st dose)

Protects against rotavirus infection, a common cause of diarrhoea and vomiting in babies and young children. Given as oral drops — not an injection.

Through the NHS Healthy Start scheme, eligible families can get free vitamins:

  • Baby & children (birth–4 years): daily drops containing vitamins A, C and D
  • Pregnant & breastfeeding mums: tablets containing folic acid, vitamin C and vitamin D

The scheme is means-tested (available if you're on Universal Credit or a low income). To collect, ask your midwife or health visitor — they'll point you to your nearest stockist, or you can use the NHS service finder online.
